Switching Direction

For days I kept thinking about why I was stuck on this Bela drum machine.

Maybe the issue was in the IDE or the environment, but I couldn’t solve it.

If that’s the case, I should consider other options.

But even while working on the film scoring project, I kept thinking about the drum machine.

Maybe I’m more drawn to interactive devices.

I realised: what I really want is to make something anyone can use.The Bela drum machine was supposed to be something you can play without knowing music.

If the hardware won’t run, why not use the phone instead?

I found a free OSC app called Data OSC.

I tried microphone, motion, and compass—the compass was the most stable.

So I thought: fine, I’ll build a musical compass.

Let the phone’s direction control sound, or multiple behaviours at once.

I’ll switch to Max too.It feels smoother than Pure Data for this kind of project.
